Sorry. I am a lame blogger these days. I have more to do during the day now. But I will post updates and hopefully post at least once a month this year! My new goal! So be watching tomorrow for some stellar pictures from 2012!
The triplets tried really hard to catch a Leprechaun on St. Patty's Day this year. They each built a Leprechaun "motel" for them to sleep in. They even had gold inside to lure the little guys in. Unfortunately, they didn't catch any this year. Maybe next March. Brooke's: Aspen's: Connor's:
We have lived in this house for 5 1/2 years now and our room is basically the last one to get done. As my mother in law calls it, our room is the "shipping and receiving" of our home. When something doesn't have a place or kids don't know where something goes, it ends up in our room. Our room is a collection of hand me down or DI furniture (except for the bed) and it just wasn't a nice relaxing place to unwind. So, I finally did something about it. Ever since we moved in, we knew we wanted our room to have a tropical feel. We bought these nice bamboo blinds and that was as far as we got. The only 2 channels that I watch are DIY and HGTV so I have gotten lots of ideas. I started off with a fabric that I loved and made a pillow for my bed. From that we got the wall color. I had wanted a very light yellow, but ended up going with "Arizona Tan" which is more golden. But I love it! It really makes the pillow pop. Then we added some nightstands, lamps, and the tin decorations I found at Confetti. And now at least one of our walls looks great. We still need a headboard, and lots of decorations on the walls, and I am going to refinish a beautiful but old vanity. It will be great!I am also debating whether to make some window panels out of the same fabric as the pillow. But that fabric was super expensive and I would need a lot. We are so excited to finally walk into a nice relaxing room.
I got to plan and participate in Brooke's class Valentine's party this year. It was a great way to spend the morning. We had lots of fun. And I also taught the after school reading club. We read poems and then made Valentine's for someone. Aspen made me one with words for each of the letters in Valentine's. I already packed it away, but I should have taken a picture of it first. Our favorite word on their was for letter T. Toilet. Awesome. Thanks Paps. Connor wrote one for Dave that said, "Dear Dad, I wink, you stink." Ha ha. And sweet Brooke wrote two poems in a card for Grandma. For Valentine's Day for our family this year, we basically did what we did last year since it was so much fun! I decorated the table with roses and heart glasses and we had waffles with strawberries and whip cream for dinner. Then we had a treasure hunt all ready for the kids to do. At the end of the hunt they found their treasure: a box of candy for each of them and Just Dance 3 for the Wii! We love that game. We busted it out and played right away. It was so much fun!
I just love this baby! He is so sweet and cuddly, covers my face with slobbery open mouthed kisses, and I am his favorite person on earth! Aah, he melts my heart. Well, he is doing good. He is moving around on the floor a lot more now. He is even starting to push himself forward to get toys. He should be crawling within the next month. He is also loving his table foods. He is getting to the point where he doesn't want us to spoon feed him any more, he would rather pick up his own food. Unfortunately, he has also gotten his first real sickness and he has been sick for almost three weeks now. Colds suck. Also, this cute boy finally got a hair cut. I waited so long because he is my last baby and I loved his soft baby fine hair. But, his hair was in his eyes, so I took him to my neighbor and he got a big boy hair cut. Before: (he doesn't like the flash) After: (It sticks up again now that it is short. So cute.) He also is now taking a bath like a big boy. He loves to sit on the floor surrounded by toys. Especially when Owen is napping and doesn't steal them from him. And it is just too adorable when babies fall asleep with toys in hand.
I can hardly believe my baby is already this old. Where has the time gone? He is a healthy boy weighing in at 18.2 pounds and he is tall at 27 3/4 inches. He is in the 15th percentile for weight and the 30th for height. He loves to sit and play with toys and loves to be held. He is my snuggle bug. He still is nowhere near crawling or pulling himself to stand. But I haven't minded not having to chase him and Owen around the house so I am really in no hurry for him to be mobile. He loves to eat! He is eating solids 3 times a day and just scarfs it down! He also likes Fruit Puffs and is trying to figure out how to pick it up and put it in his mouth. He can't get those fists open. :) And my little guy has 2 new sharp teeth in his mouth. And I know they are sharp because I have been bitten by them a few times! Youch! But the sad news is that I think he is finished nursing. He used to eat on both sides at all feedings. But for the past week he has only been eating on one side and either biting me on the other side or completely turning away. And this morning, he wouldn't have anything to do with it. I have been crying all morning. He is my last baby and I am so sad for him to be done. I am going to try again after his nap but it looks as if I will be pumping for the next 3 months and he will have a bottle. I really don't want to do formula. It really makes me sad. I love this baby so much and I am so grateful to be his mommy. My heart just bursts with love at the thought of him. Thanks Alex for coming to our family and for being my little snuggle bug. I love you!
ASPEN: In the car ride home from vacation, I turned around and scared Aspen with a "Roar". She screamed, laughed, then said, "Momma, roar me again!" *****We called Grandma around 9:00pm to tell her Happy Birthday. Aspen said it really quietly. We told her to say it louder, but instead she said, "I just really want to go to bed." *****We were shopping for clothes for Uncle Cam's wedding and Aspen picked up a cute outfit. She ran up to Dave, showed it to him, and then said, "Love it!" *****She calls freckles, "pickles." It's so cute. I can't correct her.
CONNOR: We were in a bathroom in California and I jokingly asked Connor if he needed a diaper change. (He is potty trained!) He looks at me seriously and says, "I don't know. Let me check." And proceeds to pull down his pants. *****One night we were out late shopping. On our way home Connor fell asleep. I tried to wake him up to ask him what he wanted for dinner at MCDonald's and because bed time was only an hour away. He groggily responded, "But the sky is down!" ***** Playdough for Connor is pronounced, "potato." Again, can't correct it.
BROOKE: We were watching a video of Panda sneezing and she thought it was so funny. She said to me, "Connor and Aspen have to see this! They will crap up!" *****At the grocery store, the kids always fight over who gets to ride in the "car" part (only room for two). So yesterday I asked who would volunteer to sit in the basket part. Aspen willingly volunteered so I let her choose a treat. I was telling Dave about it before family prayer and Brooke said, "Next time you do that, I'll Bolunteer!" *****Brooke calls eyelashes, "eyeflashes." Too sweet.
