Well, preschool has started back again. I'm actually very glad for the structure again. My summer was so crazy that I'm so looking forward to Fall! The kids were so excited for preschool to start again. They've been asking me all summer when they could go to preschool again. I'm very excited too! I've had so much fun seeing the kids I had last year writing their names, cutting well, and knowing what to expect in preschool. And I'm excited about all the new kids I have this year and how much they are going to learn. One of the greatest things about teaching is seeing children learn, grow, and change. This will be a great school year!
Because my immediate family is so huge, we have to have a family reunion to get everyone together at the same time. This year we went up to Paradise, UT to a cabin and spent the weekend boating, talking, and playing games. We missed most of the boating, but we still had a great time. The kids loved being at the cabin. Connor cried when we left. (When is he NOT crying though? :) ) Thanks for organizing everything John!
I had so much fun at Young Women's Camp this year. I love all of the girls that went and we all had so much fun together. I will miss it next year when I'm not there. Camp director has probably been one of my favorite callings in the church. Here are a few pics of the fun time that we had up at Camp Koholowo.
This is Anna Lisa. She was in my kindergarten class my very first year teaching. This really makes me feel old. I was so excited to see her.
We had so much fun doing funky hairstyles and coloring our hair with markers.
Dave's family work party this year was a carnival at Thanksgiving Point. We rode the ferris wheel, played on blow up toys, the kids rode a cow train, we ate cotton candy, and we watched fireworks! Oh, the kids also got balloon animals. Well, balloon stuff. Brooke got a cat, Aspen a flower, and Connor a sword. They all popped by the end of the night. It was lots of fun!
We had the annual Grant family camping trip this week. We had a really nice time. We camped at Moosehorn Lake (see picture above as to how this lake got its name) in the Uintahs and the weather was gorgeous. 60 something degrees. Aaahh... fall will be here soon. The kids and I slept in a camper with a heater so we stayed warm at night. We went fishing, canoing, and hiking. We also ate a lot, slept alot, played Nertz, the kids made a camp belt, I read a book, sang camp songs, and Dave and the kiddos put on a Homestar runner skit. It was very relaxing and fun.
ASPEN: In the car ride home from vacation, I turned around and scared Aspen with a "Roar". She screamed, laughed, then said, "Momma, roar me again!" *****We called Grandma around 9:00pm to tell her Happy Birthday. Aspen said it really quietly. We told her to say it louder, but instead she said, "I just really want to go to bed." *****We were shopping for clothes for Uncle Cam's wedding and Aspen picked up a cute outfit. She ran up to Dave, showed it to him, and then said, "Love it!" *****She calls freckles, "pickles." It's so cute. I can't correct her.
CONNOR: We were in a bathroom in California and I jokingly asked Connor if he needed a diaper change. (He is potty trained!) He looks at me seriously and says, "I don't know. Let me check." And proceeds to pull down his pants. *****One night we were out late shopping. On our way home Connor fell asleep. I tried to wake him up to ask him what he wanted for dinner at MCDonald's and because bed time was only an hour away. He groggily responded, "But the sky is down!" ***** Playdough for Connor is pronounced, "potato." Again, can't correct it.
BROOKE: We were watching a video of Panda sneezing and she thought it was so funny. She said to me, "Connor and Aspen have to see this! They will crap up!" *****At the grocery store, the kids always fight over who gets to ride in the "car" part (only room for two). So yesterday I asked who would volunteer to sit in the basket part. Aspen willingly volunteered so I let her choose a treat. I was telling Dave about it before family prayer and Brooke said, "Next time you do that, I'll Bolunteer!" *****Brooke calls eyelashes, "eyeflashes." Too sweet.
